Do Symptoms Of Abdominal Pain And Back Pain With Dark And Frequent Urination Suggest Pregnancy Or UTI?
Hi. I am a 20 year old woman who is sexually active and have been trying to concieve for over 6 months. My menstrual cycle is 30 days long. My last period was on 11/16/13. So it is currently 4 days late. I have cloudy, dark urine, and a frequent urge to urinate also paired with abdominal discomfort and moderate to severe back pain. I have been displaying signs of pregnancy but all at home tests have come back negative. Some of my symptoms suggest maybe a UTI, but that shouldn't be delaying my period. Do you have any insight?

As you suspected, it may be due to Urinary Tract Infection.
Because you have abdominal pain, back pain and changes in urination.
Your home pregnancy Test is also negative.
My advise is please repeat Home pregnancy test.
Mean time please do routine urine test and urinalysis to rule out any infection.
Because your urine is also cloudy and dark.
If the Urine test indicates any infection, you need antibiotics.
if the Urine test is normal, then better do the Ultrasound abdomen and pelvis.
Then consult with Gynecologist for examination and his expert opinion.

I have read your question carefully and I can say from my clinical experince that your symptoms can be due to pregnancy.
The only thing of concern if that you are not having positive pregnancy test at home.
if I had been seeing you, I would ask you to get an ultra sound lower abdomen ( pelvis and adnexa) and rule out any ectopic pregnancy.
Also, get a urine test done, as it is a possibility that you have pregnancy alongwith UTI.
In UTI , the patient has high fever , but in low grade infection, one can get burning, dark urine, increased frequency of urination without fever.
So, you need ultrasound and a urine test to confirm.
Please don't take any medicine in your own, as you may be pregnant and only very few selected medicines are safe for the growing baby.
