Do Stitches After Circumcision Dissolve On Their Own?

I was circumcised 5 weeks ago and still have over 1/2 of my stitches. Contacted my surgeon who will not remove them but tells me to let them dissolve. Is this normal or can I remove them myself? Can I speed up the process if I cannot remove them myself.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. For circumcision nowadays surgeons use absorbable material like catgut. It will get absorbed. You dont need to worry.keep the area clean. It might take some more time to dissolve. What is superficially coming off can be washed off with warm water or saline. You can apply betadine ointment if any small wound is there which is not healed properly on suture line.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
I find this answer helpful
