Do Severe Gastritis And Esophagitis Cause Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation?

Hello, I am a 32 year old male with no heart related problems in the past. Had a stress test one year ago and past with flying colors. I recently had an incident of atrial fibrillation randomly. I converted spontaneously after 1.5 hours. A week later I went in for a previously scheduled EGD and it was found that I had sever gastritis and esophagitis and positive for h.pylori. I am curious if Severe gastritis and esophagitis can cause paroxysmal atrial fibrillation? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is common to have heart problems precipitated by gastritis and esophagitis as in your case due to their morphological properties.

However, neither of them can cause atrial fibrillation.
