Do Prolonged Menstrual Cycles Extending Upto 12 Days Delay Ovulation?

Age:27, Gender: Female Hi Doctor I am married aged 27. I have prolonged periods at regular cycle duration of 40days. During those days with heavy flow I take ethamsylate 500mg every 4 hours - This has decreased my flow but only after 12days my flow stops, sometimes even more days. I did try Tranexa 500 mg twice daily to decrease the flow-This did not help me, ethamsylate 500mg is very better and best so far. Yes I have Pcos hence the reason. Yes I m trying to conceive. I need your expert advice as to What other tablets can help me stop my periods immediately? Does my ovulation hinder if I take these tablets? Does prolonged periods delay ovulation?

Hi, the main problem in pcos patients is the non occurrence of ovulation. That's why periods get delayed. So, if you want to conceive, you can take some medicines like clomiphene for the growth of your follicles. Track your follicles growth by repeated ultrasound and when your follicles is more than 17 to 18 mm, take injection for rupturing the follicles. Be in contact with your husband every 2 to 3 days after your periods stop. Take progesterone for next 2 weeks. Do a urine pregnancy test at home after that. Also get a thyroid profile and prolactin levels done. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
