Do Low Potassium Levels Cause Pain And Numbness In The Arms?

today I experience painful cramping in my arm that led to my entire left hand becoming numb. it has been hours later and the pain has subsided but my hand continues to feel numb and tingly and my arm is sore to touch. could this be a sign of low potassium levels or calcium levels?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be due to many reason. If you have chest pain along with it I recommend go to hospital and take an ECG it could be heart problem. But low calcium or low potassium can also cause this.low potassium is very dangerous.can lead to cardiac arrthymias. Check serum potassium and serum calcium.take an ECG. Low calcium also cause cramps.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
