Hello,

There is no harm in taking short term steroids, especially in low doses. It is rewarding in the management of autoimmune diseases as it suppresses immunity and controls symptoms.

Long term use has, of course, side effects like osteoporosis, pathological fractures, gastric ulcers and secondary infections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
