A couple of months ago I had a very painful testicle in the middle of the night, after leaving it a while and hoping it went away it became a bit much and I had to go to the hospital. The doctor and urologist said it was either an infection or a torsion where it has 'twisted'. Well, I was pretty sure it was not an infection as I do not go around having unprotected sex and did not have any sort of sex for a while before that. Anyway, they were going to operate on me then, but while I was waiting to go in the pain all of a sudden just subsided. Well this convinced the doctor the cause was a twist and it had managed to untwist itself and restore the blood flow back which was why I felt better. He still wanted to do the surgery, where he said he could make a small cut and check everything was in order (under general anaesthetic) and he could do something to make sure it doesn't happen again. I declined because I had a busy week ahead and couldn't really afford to be recovering all week. Well he booked me in for an operation coming up next week and am wondering if it was really necessary as I feel ok now and do not want to have any surgery or take any unnecessary risks around that area, as well as the recovery/swelling time unless it has to be done.
