Do Emergency Contraceptive Pills Cause Delayed Menstruation?

I had sex on the 4th of Jan,and took the first pill 3hours after and had unprotected sex the next day before taking the second pill which was more than 12 hours after. Is there a possibility of me getting pregnant or can it cause delay in my next menstrual period?

Hi.

You have taken the ECPs within the best given time frame, so pregnancy is highly unlikely. Although, common side effects of ECPs include menstrual irregularities like delayed period, irregular bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, etc; but all of these are temporary and your cycle should normalise soon after.

Best wishes.
