Do Hydrochlorothiazide And Amlodipine Besylate Cause Dizziness?

I am noticing that my husband is on hydrochlorothiazide and amlodipine besylate and they both are for high blood pressure The dose of first drug is 12.5 and the second one 5mg. His bp isa down and he has been dizzy!! Seems to me he needs to get off these drugs. I am checking his BP each day which has been low for all readings including his pulse. Reading tonight was 127/78 P 61 At request, the dosage of the first drug was cut in half just a few weeks ago. I intend to discuss with family MD but just thought I would get some thoughts from you!! Thank YOU!!

I appreciate your concern for your beloved husband.
As per the history given your husband seems to be having dizziness due to inappropriate dose of the prescribed BP lowering medications.

Dizziness seems to be due to a fall in BP.

The most common side effects associated with Hydrochlorothiazide include:
thirst, muscle weakness, dizziness, erectile dysfunction and increased blood sugar level.

Whereas the most common side effects that can occur with Amlodipine include: swelling of the legs or ankles, constipation, flushing, increased heart beats, and palpitations.

So, the dose of Hydrochlorthiazde needs to be adjusted so as to control his BP and also dizziness.
