Do Estradiol Patches Cause Yeast Infection?

I have a question regarding estradiol patches and the use of vaginal creams to treat yeast infections. I have had an ongoing yeast infection and my doctor has been treating it with different medication. I went to the beach this past weekend and did not wear a patch for 3 or 4 days and noticed that the infection got better. I have had the patch back on for one day and have reoccurring symptoms today. Can to patches be increasing the symptoms of the yeast infection?

Yes, this is possible. Estradiol patch releases estrogen slowly. This is female hormone. So continuous release of estrogen makes vagina and cervix more prone for infection. So if you are having active genital infection then better not to use this patch. Once infection is over start patch again. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid moisture and perspiration in private parts. Keep proper hygiene of private parts. Wear only cotton undergarments.
