Do Amlodipine And Valsartan Cause Fluid Retention In The Legs And Dizziness?
I am having fluid retention in feet, ankles, leg just a blouted feeling. I have no hx of heart problems. I had swollen ankles at my physical on 5/24. I explained that I have always had problem with retained water and for years took htcz not sure that is correct spelling. She did not address that. It is worse and I feel very uncomfortable. Currently take amlodipine 5 mg and valsartan 160 mg both once a day for high BP. I on occasion feel light headed. Could these med be the cause of my sx?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Fluid retention in the legs and dizziness are common side effects of Amlodipine. These symptoms usually go away on its own. If the symptoms continue you should consult your doctor for an alternative medication to control blood pressure.
