Dizziness, Swollen Neck, Pain In Head, Ear And Eye. Help

Hi, I have had severe ear pain deep inside for two years. It feels like someone is sticking a knife deep inside my ear. I also have really bad head pain at the back bottom of my skull , it feels like something is wedged in my head. I also get deep eye pain which comes and goes, also my skin at the bottom of my eye has dropped. All this pain is on the left side. I don t know whether this is any help but when I was a child I pushed a wooden bead about two inches in length down my left ear. I got a pen and wedged it far as it would go. It was in there for a week until my mother rushed me to A and E to have it removed. They told my mother that they had to slit my eardrum to get it out as it went deep inside. They also said I will always have trouble with my left ear. As I got older Ive always had buzzing in my ear and slight ear pain. But as I mentioned earlier, this pain has been on going for two years now. I ve had an MRI on my brain and neck to look for ms etc but nothing. They are treating me with Botox injected at the back of my head for the pain. I am not convinced its my neck as many doctors have said, even my pain doctor says that my MRI of the neck is just slightly swollen but not enough to cause all the pain I am getting. I had a hearing test which hurt my left ear but the ent doctor did not want to know. He said it was my neck, I lose my balance a lot and get really dizzy when bending over to brush my teeth or wash my hair. It also affects my left eye when feeling dizzy. I have not got ms which was a possibility. Thank you, would be nice if someone could help me. Oh, I also get a clonking noise through my ears when I rub the back of my head.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding pinching deep pain in left ear, left eye and left sided headache. Though you are already in the touch of doctors and your M.R.I.brain did not show any abnormality and your hearing tests are also normal. But as you are saying that you feel dizzy on bending your head, this is now an important finding as it signifies the involvement of cerebellar or vestibular system.

Considering above facts you should be investigated for-

1- Cervical spondylosis with radiculopathy.

2- Ischemia to balancing system.

3- Migraine.

Therefore I would like to suggest you to consult neurologist for thorough examination and necessary investigations to pin point the diagnosis and treatment.

Regards.
