Difficulty In Focusing. Is There A Vision Problem?

My right eye feels like it jumps when looking at close up objects or when I turn my eyed in a downward motion more to the right. It's like it does not want to focus with the left eye. I can close my left eye and when looking at objects with right eye it's like the aren't still. I can sequent and that seems to help it go away. If I'm looking straight with both eyes open it really doesn't bother me.

Hi,

Thanks for your question. From what you have described, you may be suffering from an imbalance of your eye movement muscles.

Convergence insufficiency is a possibility as you have difficulty with close work. When you look at a close object your eyes need to meet/converge at a near focus point.

I would recommend you see an orthoptist (someone who specializes in eye movement disorders) or an eye doctor for a formal assessment. They may offer you advice on eye movement exercises to strengthen your muscles or they may offer you prisms. There are also surgical options but this is a last resort.

I hope that has helped.

Regards
