Difficulty Breathing Especially After Eating, Scheduled For Pulmonary Function Test. Is It Necessary ?
My husband has difficulty breathing especially after he eats. He has asthma which is being treated for and he also has a hiatal hernia. He has had chest xray, bloodwork, lower and upper G.I. ekg, endoscopy, stress test. etc. The docs say they don.t know what it could be but they are scheduling him for a pulmonary function test. He has hypertension and a pacemaker. he sometimes has a dry cough. He has a gurgling sound in his lungs after he eats which I can hear just sitting beside him but the docs say his lungs sound clear. Can you help me? PLEASE!
Hello Thanks for the query to HCM.Gurgling sound as far as known to me is sound of crepitation (crepitus ) i.e. due to allergy & expectoration. Usually this type of sound occurs in asthmatic patients or copd cases or cor pumonale cases . In all these condition complete pulmonary tests including heart tests require. In my opinion consult your treating doctor or pulmonologist and get his opinion as these tests are also important . In my opinion X ray is important diagnostic parameter so get in a fresh X ray. Good luck. Dr. HET
