Difficulty Breathing, Dry Cough, Fatigue. Did Tread Mill Test For Heart, Normal. What Is Wrong?
My name is Eric Barton. I am 59 years old. Over the past several months I have developed difficulty breathing air in. Breathing out is not a problem. After mowing the lawn a few weeks ago I had such difficulty breathing that I thought I might suffocate. My primary care doc had me come in immediately. The blood oxygen level was fine. My symptoms moderated a bit and using my oxygen conderser unit a little. I was checked for blood clots - negative. I had the treadmill test for my heart and things were fine. I had another severe episode a few weeks later and I am now lined up to see a pulminologist in a month or so. Nevertheless, my symptoms continue, sometimes severely. The sypmtpoms specifically are;
- Shortness of breath - A chronic dry cough - Daily chest pain from moderate to sharp - Extreme fatigue
I know I'll find out more when i see the pulmonologist but am quite concerned about this. Thank you so much for you insight.
You could be suffering from asthma/COPD. Are you a smoker or are you allergic to dust, smoke or any thing else that you may have observed? If your treadmill and your echo tests are normal, you do need to see a pulmonologist who may put you through tests like chest x ray, pft and if required a ct chest. This will give a guideline and the treatment can be started accordingly.
