Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Diarrhea, Urgency To Bowel Movement, Loose, Mucous Stools, Cramps, Yellow Substance After Passing Stools. Colitis?
I have been having upper R. abdominal pain and nausea for about 6 months. Had negative abdominal ultrasound and hida scan when this started. Last week I had diarrhea one day and thought it was the stomach bug, my granddaughter had vomiting and diarrhea that day too. Now five days later I am having diarrhea once again with urgency to have a bowel movement and cramping. Last night when it started the cramping was in the middle of my back instead of my stomach, and after the diarrhea I passed a lot of yellow substance, I am not sure it was mucous or bile. Today now I continue to have the urgency to go poop a little while after eating and have loose kind of mucous looking stool. Still more pain upper right side but some on the left side as well. Could this be from my gall bladder or could it be colitis?

hi, It is a Gastrointestinal infection, causing dysentry. and your gastrocolic reflux will get exaggerated when you are infected, treated with antibiotics. i assume that you were treated with antibiotics for the recent past episode of dysentry. now try with probiotic for 7 days along with zinc supplementation may help. if doesn't please see your gastroenterologist. all the very best.
