Diarrhea, Taken Lomotil. What To Do?

HI , I was having constipation , gas, bloating for 2/3 days , and then i get loose motions 2/4 times in a day. Went to the Gastro Dr. He gave a course of 1. NexPRo 40 before Breakfast ( 10 days) 2. Cibis - 1/2 -- 0 ---1 ( 10 days) 3. Oflin 1---0---1 (5 days) 4. Becelac 1---0---1 ( 10 days) I felt better for the 10 day course , but now again i get motions and have to go to the loo 2/3 times And in case if i did not feel good after 4/5 days he had said to do the Complete Blood sugar test, and Stool test . It is very uncomfortable and not able to go any where and feeling weak. Since the Dr is not available i had took a LOMOTIL to control .

Hi,

Lomotil should not be taken for few stools per day as it can cause constipation.
Since you got okay with a 10 day course of Oflaxacin, Nexpro, Cibis, Becelac this indicates that the cause recurred.
Hence it is a must to go for the stool and blood tests as advised.
Continue Becelac.
You may need another course of an antibiotic and add on Metronidazole so that the bacterial infection can be controlled.
Also needed is to see for the source of infection through foods, beverages that you take and water.
Stop the foods that instigate or enhance the problems.
If this does not help then you may need to undergo colonscopy and CT scan of abdomen.
It is good that you are already under the management of a Gastroenterologist.
Take plenty of oral fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avoid stress and anxiety as these enhance the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. T Chandrakant,
