Diarrhea Past Few Days. Taking Ciplox Tab, Econorm, Rafle. Should Continue With These Medicines?

good morning, i am bhalchandra age 51. I am having acute diarrhea for past 3 days. I have taken the following medicines 1.) Ciplox Tz 2 tabs for 2 days with omez-D but no relief so consulted another doctor who asked to take econorm (saccharomyces boulardii ) in addition, took 3 of them but no relief , the n other doctor asked to stop these medics and told i had a viral infection and gave me Rafle (Rifaximin 200-mg) one dose per day which i took for a day ie 2 tablets. But the situation didn`t improve a bit, I staying alone got worried and so visited a known senior Dr and he has now given Mefenamic Acid,Cefuroxime-250.I have taken 2 doses since morning yesterday, but i had loose motions during the night every 3 hours. When will this discomfort stop and what about the previous medicines ciplox tz or econorm or Rafle . Should i stop these anti biotics. Sir when shall i feel better.

Hello. Most of diarrhea without signs of alarm (apparently you have not) the cause is a virus and therefore does not require antibiotic drug (indicated for bacterial diarrhea).Usually a dietary treatment is prescribed: rehydrating isotonic drinks and astringent diet: rice, chicken, banana, apple, carrot ....sometimes even some antidiarrheal drug for example loperamida.
Majority of diarrhea are resolved 72 hours after start that treatment.
If diarrhea is not resolved in 72 hours or is suspected bacterial diarrhea, a sample of deposition is taken for analysis and is prescribed an antibiotic.
This antibiotic should be taken for about 7 days and only can be changed in function of the analysis results. You have taken 3 different antibiotics in 3 days.Your diarrhea has not improved and ,probably ,intestinal flora has been destroyed.
I think that now you should combine the isotonic drink with astringent diet referred. You must too go to your doctor for prescription of regenerating intestinal flora (Saccharomyces boulardii for example) and ,perhaps, antidiarrheal(loperamide or similar). Until you go to your doctor,is not recommended antibiotic drug.

Hello,
There is no use of taking so many of antibiotics because most of the diarrheas are viral in nature and become allright in 4-5 days.
You are supposed to take care of your hydration only.
Take plenty of oral fluids including plain water,ORS,coconut water, sweet and salty lemon etc.
Take probiotics like econorm twice daily.
Take light food and avoid non vegetarian food, greasy and oily food etc.
No use of any antibiotics and so stop them.
If by chance you don't improve in another 2-3 days, then get your stool cultured and microscopically examined to look for bacteria etc.
Thanks
