Diagnosed With Viral Infection, Cough, Abdominal Pain. Cure?

My daughter was diagnosed with a viral infection.with a low grade temperature, recurring cough and abdominal pain every 6-8 hours, often cramps after eating too. This is going on for 9 days and treated with cough medicine s and nurafen and alternatively paracetamol . IS there anything else that could account for her symptoms.

Hi
welcome to HCM
Gone through your daughter's problem.
By the way what is her age? Is the cough a productive one or only dry cough?
If it is productive and purulent, it indicates a bacterial infection & you have to start an antibiotic.
In children abdominal cramping do occur periodically and is usually nonthreatening. Abdominal pain can also be due to continuous recurrent cough leading to violent contraction of abdominal muscle.

However i will advice you to visit her paediatrician / consultant in internal medicine (as applicable for her age) to evaluate, if the abdominal pain is visceral and not somatic.

Hope I have cleared your doubts. Do contact me in case further doubts.
Wish her a good health.
