Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes, Had Hepatitis C And Jaundice. On Metformin, Rebetron. Why Is My Vision Affected?

Hello I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. For the last 2.5 months I have been taking metformin, 500mg twice a day. I have been religiously taking all sugar from my diet and really watching my carbs. Now my sugars have been somewhere around 10 in the morning pre breakfast and around 12 to 14 two hours after a meal. So I asked if my metformin could be increased and the nurse practionner at the diabetes clinic agreed and increased it two 1000mg twice a day. She also gave me 5g onglyza once a day to do as well plus I am also taking 75mg Lyrica twice a day. Today was my first day. I thought that just increasing my metformin would be sufficient to see how that worked before starting onglyza since I am fairly new with metformin and was on a fairly low dosage to start with. Also just before my supper today I started having vison problems and checked mu sugar and it was 5.4 so I ate right away. the reason for my question is that I was hospitalized when I was younger with jaundice, and when I was 50 I went on Rebetron for Hep C a result of my foolishness with drugs when I was a teen. So my liver has taken a beating and I do not want to take more drugs than I need to. Does all of this sound okay?

Hello,
Vision problems in a diabetic person can arise from hypoglycemic attacks and also because of untoward effect of long standings uncontrolled diabetes.
The most important part of your treatment is meticulous treatment of your diabetes because uncontrolled diabetes leads to various types of future micro as well as macrovascular complications.
There are plenty of anti diabetic drugs available who won't have any effect on your liver condition and status.
Take care of your diet and do regular exercises, because they are very important adjuvants to anti diabetic drugs for the proper control of your diabetes.
Thanks
