Diagnosed With Swimmers Ear, Prescribed Ciprodex, Voice Raspy, Bronchial Cough. Is This All Related ?

Hi, my son was diagnosed with swimmers ear this morning at an urgent care clinic after complaining about outer ear pain on and off this week, especially when touched. He had gone swimming last weekend and apparently has a lot of wax build up in his ear. He was prescribe Ciprodex (4 drops, 2xday for 5-7 days). I gave him his first dose this morning at 9:00 am shortly after visiting the clinic. Around 12:30-1:00 pm, his voice started getting raspy (sounded like some drainage was occurring) and now, is also running an 103 degree fever with a dry, bronchial sounding cough. Is this all related? Is it because of the swimmer's ear or because of the medicine breaking up the ear wax build up?

Hi, You son was diagnised with swimmers ear, got pain in external ear, after putting ciprodex drops, voice became raspy, fever of 103f, cough.
It appears to be the infection of upper respiratory tract, first symptom seen is ear pain and had treatment, now rest of the symptoms and infection must be treated. I to my patients prescribe antibiotic, antipyretic, decongestant, etc for relief. Thank you.
