Diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, Dr advises chemotherapy. Is stage 4 curable ?
My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer stage 4 she seems to have three tumors one on the upper left lung, one in the middle between her two lungs and the other one on the bottom of her left lung. The doctor diagnosed her with about 6 months to a year and wants to provide chimotherapy every week. My question is how will chimo benefit her if stage 4 is not currable?

Stage 4 means the cancer has spread to distant part. you rightly said that this is not curable...then why chemo?
chemotherapy has two definite roles......first it prolongs the life of patient as compared to non-receivers.....secondly it has got some palliative effect on the symptoms of cancer.
the choice of chemo depends on two broad subtypes....small cell lung cancer which is more dangerous and secondly Non small cell lung cancer...
It will be my advice to you that please go for chemotherapy.....its just 4-6 cycles..
