Diagnosed With Predominantly Demyelinating Sensori-motor Polyneuropathy Involving Both Limbs. Unable To Sleep Continuously, Breathe. Suggestions?

My father, age 64 years, had fever for 3 days, since then he had difficulty in walking which deteriorated suddenly on 9th august 2013, morning, when he unable to left himself from the bed & unable to walk. So we took him to a nearby hospital.

Then he was thoroughly evaluated & investigated. On examination he shows power grade 3/5 (bilateral lower limbs) & DTR absent in bilateral lower limbs.
The neurologist who was evaluating the case asked us to go for NCV for 4 limbs.
Then NCV/EMG report summary shows as below:
MNC: Prolonged DL, reduced CMAP amplitude & conduction velocity in bilateral median and ulnar nerves. Not recordable in rest of all nerves tested.

SNCS: Not recordable in all the tested nerves

F-WAVE: Not recordable in all the tested nerves
H-reflex: Not recordable both lower limbs.
Impression: EPS suggestive of predominantly demyelinating sensori-motor polyneuropathy involving both upper & lower limbs. Correlate clinically.
Thereafter doctor admit him in the hospital in MICU as doctor understand that this is a case of AIDP-GBS, so he was managed with IV fluids, IV-Immonogloulin infusion for 5 days, antihypertensives, insulin & other supportive measures, as he got known case of type II diabetes mellitus & hypertension on medication.

But now he is not able to sleep continuously for more than 3 hrs at a stretch at night & some times he complain that he got breathing problem whenever we cook food at home. Though during his stay at hospital doctor investigate & found no problem in respiratory system.

Hi. AIDP-GBS can sometimes involve the autonomic nervous system, which can cause these symptoms in the form of bursts of respiratory distress, BP fluctuations, Pulse rate fluctuations, etc. So this needs to be evaluated in this condition. Hope i have answered your query. Thank you.
