These are a few things you need to be aware about: 1. If she has been diagnosed with Labyrinthitis, then I would usually start a course of antibiotics also along with the steroids. This can be an amoxycillin-clavulanate combination. Your doctor will know about these. 2. You need to understand that the hearing loss in Labyrinthitis depends on several factors such as the amount of infection, the damage to nerve, the age and the medications to name a few. 3.Since it has so many variables it is hard to predict how and when the recovery can happen with wide range like two weeks to two years even. No one can tell how your mother will recover as it varies from person to person 4. Meanwhile what you can do to help the recovery is to make sure she exercises her brain and remains as active as possible and start an multivitamin tablet like Zincovit and give a healthy balanced and nutritious diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables 5. Google and find out VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION EXERCISE and let your mother follow the simple ones without strain. 6. You may need to taper the steroids in consultation with your doctor 7.
