Dear Gowda,

M1 ou M2 are not stages of the disease. They are the subtype of AML with which your mother was diagnosed. She is still a young patient, and this diagnosis carries a bad prognosis, unless there are specific good prognosis markers on her bone marrow. If her doctors decided to undergo bone marrow transplantation, is probably because your mother doesn't have any of those good prognostic factors and because se has a good donor. Having a compatible donor is good news and the fact that she is doing a BMT is a sign that her disease is in clinical remission. I think this is the correct way to proceed. Hope to have answered your query.
