Hi, I m a bit nervous, my son was just recently diagnose bipolar as a result of a dilusional manic episode 14 days ago. I put him on an emergency detention (we had no idea what was going on). He had been on zoloft for year for depressiona and when the dr. increased his dosage from 50 mg. to 150 mg., that is when the episode began. He is 24 years of age. The pscyh. hospital discharged him with 400 mg. seroquel at night and 100 mg. in the morning, as well as lithium ( I can t remember the dose). I immediately took him to a private pscyh. upon his release and that dr. told him to immediately stop the meds he was discharged with and begin 500 mg. depakote two times per day and 5 mg. ability. He hasn t slept more than 2 hrs. for the last two night so the dr. said to take 1000 mg. depakote at night. I m afriad of what this will do. Please let me know, does depakote help with sleep?
