Diagnosed With Strep B. Given Penicillin. Permanent Cure?

I have a quick question. I know I have Strep B it was found in my throat I was given penicillin . This test was done after Strep A was not what was causing my symptoms. This was 2 or 3 years ago. Since it is a bacteria that lives in your body and if you take the antibiotics isn t that supposed to kill it and cure it? Can a person be cured of this strain of bacteria? Should I actually do a blood test to check if it is actually Strep B or if the student health center made a mistake.. because I know that you need a blood test to determine if you have it.

Hi,
It is not like that once you treat the disease and you will not get disease in future.
In the past you had streptococcal infection and with treatment you were alright.
But this type of infection can occur any time again and you get infection.
You get this infection often by air, food, coming in contact with the patient suffering from this infection.
Ok and take care.

ENT Specialist Dr. Abhishek Sharma's  Response
Hello,
Calm down .
Each and every person in this world has strept. in there throat . It can be found in normal persons too if you take a test like throat swab.
So do not worry.
It is actually when the body immunity goes down or the bacterial load rises the infection occurs.
and then you need to take antibiotics.
