Diagnosed tonsillitis. Having red and swollen mouth, throat and glands, oozing foul smelling pus. Worried? Guidance

Went to hospital yesterday where a doctor told me I had tonsillitis, the left back side of my mouth was red and swollen as were my tonsils, my throat and my glands, all on the left side. A little after I got home, brownish red foamy bad smelling pus stuff starting leaking from somewhere at the back of my mouth. I'm now worried that its not just tonsillitis, please help as this is very painful and distresing, thank you.

Welcome in H.C.M. for your query.

I have gone through your query regarding red enlarged congested tonsils with pus is oozing out. You have enlarged node on the neck. your throat is very painful on swallowing.

You are having all these problem on left side of throat only. After returning to home you spit out thick brownish red foamy pus like discharge which is fowl smelling.

Considering these facts it appears as you are suffering from follicular tonsillitis with peritonsillar abscess left side. This abscess had lateron drained by it self to give rise to brownish red froathy discharge with fowl smelling. For treatment you should take-

(a) Antibiotic- With the concent of your G.P.

(b) Tab Paracetamol.

(c) Antiseptic gargling.

(d) Plenty of liquid orally.

I hope this will help you.
