Diabetic On Insulin And Oral Medication. Boil In The Calf. What Is The Treatment?

Hello doctor. .. .a female diabetic patient of age 60 years suffering from diabetes for.last 20 years ,and under medication with oral hypoglycemics and insulin basalog morning evening and insulin humalog at noon .since few days she has boil on her right leg at calf region. .what should be the treatment and medication

Hello,
You must consult a surgeon to see whether the boil requires lancing or not.
Make sure that blood sugar level are properly controlled.
Give a broad spectrum antibiotic like AUGMENTIN 625 mg 8 hourly for 7 days along with anti inflammatory like ibuprofen 400 mg three times day for 3 to 5 days.
If the pus collection has been lanced,then she would require a daily sterile dressing till the wound heals.
