Diabetic, Had Fibrocystic Disease Of The Breast. What Tests Should Be Conducted To Deduct Cancer Early?

There is a strong history of breast cancer in my family. Before menopause. I have had fibrocystic disease of the breast with 5 biopsies. I also have very dense breast tissue. I am a diabetic as well. My age is 69 years old. What kind of test or tests should I have to catch an early cancer. My doctors aren't too willing to provide more than one test, once a years. Such as a mammogram with CAD. I worry about cancer a lot the older I get. what are your recommendations?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Mammograms can only be done once yearly because it is radiation exposure and there is a risk associated with excess radiation.

You can consider being tested for the BRAC1 and BRAC2 gene mutations.
BRAC1 and BRAC 2 are genes that make tumor suppressor proteins. These tumor suppressor proteins repair damaged DNA and decrease the risk of cancer.

When a woman has mutations or alterations in these genes then there is an increased risk of breast cancer.

If you have these genes then you would be able to assess your risk.

I hope this helps
