Diabetic, Diagnosed With Toe Infection, Protrusion, Pain. Advise?

I visited a doctor on Monday and I was told I have an infection in my toe. I was told that last week as well, but I've been put on different medication now. I'm diabetic. It's affecting my ability to walk and it's getting worse and worse each day. At the current moment, it literally looks like a small hill has protruded through the center of another large hill and it's putting me in excruciating amounts of pain. I was told to go to the hospital if it got worse so they could remove the infection inside it, but i'm home alone at the moment (I'm 18) and I can't leave the house or do anything until my grandparents return. Is there anything I can do to stop the pain briefly before I speak to them? Or is there anything that can get rid of the infection without needing to go to A&E?
