Hi my daughter is type 1 diabetic and 19 weeks pregnant, at the weekend her and her partner went to the coast and although the weather was warm but cloudy she managed to slightly burn her feet/Insteps..both feet were swollen and a reddish purple colour and cold, she has been to her GP today and was told to rest them and return if any pain was felt,

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
She should consult a diabetologist for control her sugar level. In pregnancy and diabetes blood circulation is very slow and diabetes cause neuropathy also so this problem may develop called deep vein thrombosis.
Don't worry consult a doctor.
Good luck.
