Dermal PIH Of Tweezing Upper Lip Hair, PCOS, Prescribed Triluma. Any Else To Do ?

I have dermal PIH from years of tweezing my upper lip hair and not using sunscreen. I have PCOS so have above average hair growth. It is very dark, deep and grey. My derm prescribed Triluma and said it will help a little, and the rest would be up to time. Is there anything else I can do? I stopped plucking two months ago and am currently trimming the hair. For hair removal, is electrolysis or laser hair removal better (which would cause less damage). Is this deep pigmentation permanent? If not, how long could it take to resolve? I now wear sunblock. Please help, I am very depressed.. Thank you very much.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
Hyperpigmentation for you is not permanent. But it takes long time to get cleared. Even with Tri Luma it takes time . Use high SPF sunscreen to avoid further damage. Please avoid sun exposure if possible.Wear any face mask while driving or walking in daylight.
For hair removal, Electrolysis is the only allowed method of hair removal to be called as Permanent.
Electrolysis destroys the cells that cause the hair to grow. The hair will release and would not grow again.
But it may cause Hyperpigmentation.
Do not get depressed.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
