Depression, High Level Of Stress From Workload, Family Issues, Addicted To Gambing. Advice

online questions require payment- not interested- seeking a psychiatrist in east stroudsburg PA- having tough time.

In the last 3 years- my 36 year old brother died in tragic accident. In conjunction with that time frame i had ended a 26 year relationship for reasons I will not even type. I am a director for a finance company with a high level of workload/stresses and now find myself depressed- and addicted to gambling as an outlet- cant seem to change my life direction positvely

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history.

It seems that you are having depression with compulsive gambling. You should consult psychiatrist for detailed evaluation.
Doctor may rule out physical causes like thyroid dysfunction as well as vitamin B 12 deficiency etc.

There are two treatment options
1) Anti depressant drugs like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors like fluoxetine , fluoxamine or sertraline etc

2) Psychotherapy and counselling which may help you to come out of stress, depression and gambling

Doctor may advise you best suitable option to you as per expert examination.

I hope It will help.
Thanks.

Psychiatrist Dr. Sundar Gnanavel's  Response
Hello.....
Thanks for your query. I would suggest a complete diagnostic evaluation by a psychiatrist. The treatment would consist of psychotropic medication like antidepressants/anxiolytics as well as psychotherapy interventions like CBT/ Cognitive behavioural therapy and supportive counselling. You need to be assessed for depressive, anxiety and adjustment disorders. Wishing you speedy recovery.

General & Family Physician Dr. Veera Raghava Rao Buddha.'s  Response
Hi, first thing you should be comfertable regarding the work load, family issues, You should be in a position to do the same work at ease, you try to have a planed work, so that it wont bother you, try to have a leisure in between the work. try to have good sleep at night.
Family problems will always be there, try to avoid feeling of them. try to solve them ,if can't don't feel it.
Still if is bothersome consult a psychologist for diagnosis and treatment. Decide to quit, gambling, then you will be the winner of the life.
Thank you.
