Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor prescribed celexa for me two days ago for depression. (I have been taking wellbutrin for the past 10 years.) She told me to take 1/2 tablet at bedtime, then increase to one tablet. I'm not sure when to increase and the instructions from the pharmacist don't indicate when either. What do you advise?
Celexa is started in half dose for two days as people often have gastrointestinal side effects with celexa. After two days, if there are no major side effects and if you are comfortable with the medicine, you can start taking the full tablet daily. Usually it is taken in the morning as it makes people alert but some people may experience sedation with it and should take it at night. So, if on hiking the dose to full tablet, you notice any sleep disturbance, you can shift the tablet to the morning time.
Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
