Delayed periods, unprotected sex, light spotting, bloating, nausea. HPT negative. Pregnant?

Hi. I am 5 days late for my period. I had unprotected sex 5 days post ovulation . I have had light spotting only while wiping occasionally. I took a home pregnancy test last night and it came back negative. I have been extremely tired, bloated, nauseous, using the bathroom frequently, my breasts are tender and my gums are swollen. Could I still be pregnant even after getting a negative result? How long should I wait to test again?

There are several reasons of delayed period besides pregnancy like hormonal imbalance, over wt, mental stress, emotional upset, eating disorder.

Here, I suggest to repeat home pregnancy test after 7 days to confirm pregnancy and early test is less significant.

If you don't get your period within 1 wk, then one USG lower abdomen and hormone test will be worthwhile. You may require progesterone pill to induce period. Kindly, consult with your gynecologist and take advice accordingly.

Control body wt, avoid stress, take healthy diet with avoidance of fatty food and sleep properly. Practice safe sex in future.

Be well.
