Delayed Periods. Dark Brown Spotting, Back Pain, Cramping. Pregnancy Test Negative. Guide

My husband and I are trying to conceive and had sex on May 15th. My period was due on May 25th. I am on a 28 day cycle and very regular. For the past 2 days I've been spotting. Started out as Dark brown, almost black discharge (not a lot). Now it's stringy and dark brown. I have back pain, and cramping, but I've never spotted like this before, and my period has never been late. I took a preg. test tonight, but it came back negative.
Do you think this is a late period?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The delay in periods that you are having is not related to pregnancy since the pregnancy test is negative. This is more likely to be due to a hormonal delay. The symptoms that you have are likely to subside in next few days.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Rakhi-Tayal
