Dark Mole Close To Anus For Years. Sent For Biopsy, Waiting For Result. Is This The Cause For Concern?
My husband has had a dark brown mole close to his anus for many years, just recently he was sent to a dermatologist and she wanted to do a biopsy. This kind of surprised us. She said it could take a week to get the results. It is bigger then a pencil eraser and is a little like a heart shape with jagged edges. If it should come back positive to be cancerous what are we facing? Could he die from this? Or is this a simple removal of the mole? What should we expect? Thanks M.M
Hi and thanks for the query, It shall depend on a few characteristics to know if it is a real call for concern or not. If he was born with kit, if it has been increasing in size or if it is painful. In case its been there fore a long time, does not increase in size or is painless, it should not be a call for concern. In case of increase size or pain, I do suggest the opinion of the dermatologist to send fir a biopsy makes sense. However, this is not the classical location of skin tumors. However, it is good to be prudent as you await biopsy results. But I do not think you need to bother much as of now. Kind regards
