Cut On Foot. Had A Red Line And Swelling. Given Home Treatment And Amoxicillin. Does The Red Line Mean Blood Poisoning?

My son has a cut on his foot from this past Sunday. It had a red line going up his foot and is swollen. Here is what I just did...soaked the scab off in water and epsom salts.Cleaned the now open wound with soap and water. Also applied alcohol. Put triple antibiotic ointment on a non-stick sterile pad and covered the wound. I put an ace bandage loosly over the foot and ankle...he has sweaty feet so I wanted to make sure the dressing didn't fall off while he slept. I also gave him some amoxicillin. Should this help him? I just read the red line can mean blood poisoning!

You should also cover him with anti-tetanus shots for which go to ER. Along with amoxycillin give brufen 400 mg twice a day after meals and some multivitamin tabs also.
Infection and inflammation are common with cuts and you have to protect him from tetanus as foot area is contaminated with dust creating risk for tetanus also
