Current blood pressure: 170/105. Do I need to go to the ER ?

Current blood pressure: 170/105. Do I need to go to the ER? It s usually around 140/90, but none of my doctors have ever prescribed meds to manage it. Over the last week, I ve not felt so good, so I ve begun to monitor my BP at home. Within the last few days, its been around 170/105. I m trying to get in to see one of my docs in the next few days, but is this BP high enough to need to make a trip to the ER?

Considering the fact that normal is 120/80; I would say you should be at the ER instead of at the computer. Go now, unchecked high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, or death. God bless you, now go get your butt to the hospital!

Im 43 years old, 5 10 and 212lbs. I went for a root canal a few weeks ago and after taking my BP several times (180/120), was told that I need to get my BP under control before they could do anything. I don t currently have insurance but took it seriously and have been seeing a doctor. I m currently on 100MG of Atenolol in the evening and a diuretic in the morning and bought a good upper arm BP machine. I m checking the BP 3 times in the morning, once at lunch and 3 times in the evening and recording the readings. It just doesn t seem to be coming down quick enough. The first week was 50mg of Atenolol (no diuretic) and the second week was upped to 100mg and the diuretic added. It s been a full week and I m not scheduled to go back for another week. I m getting readings in the morning around 150/110, and lunch around 170 /110 and then an hour after the medication in the evening it gets down to around 129/96, but pops right back up in the morning. When I first visited the doctor I was at 220/120, and prior to that I had a reading of 195/154 at a pharmacy machine. Should I give it another week or try to see the doctor sooner?

I took my blood pressure meds a couple of hours ago when I was having some chest pain and stabbing sensation in my arm and noticed my blood pressure was elevated. I have been monitoring my blood pressure since but it seems to be getting higher not lower. I am calm I feel fine now but my reading is 149/102 can I just remain clam at home or do I need to go to the ER?

In a recent medical exam, my BP was 142/92 and my pulse rate was 63. My SpO2 was measured twice (three minutes apart) and went from 96% to 93%. I had no medical history to report to the doctor. I was basically starting fresh with my healthcare. She said my vitals were normal and stable. She said my BP was likely due to my back pain (that led to the visit in the first place). But if my pressure was high, why was my rate low?? And, what is the significance of the drop in SpO2? Thanks.

I have a rash in my groin and my body is always itchy. For about 2 years I had rashes on both my feet. It seems to have cleared now but I still have to apply dipresone everyday. I take medication for high blood pressure - Micardi Plus, Zanidip and Spiractin. Are any of these causing my rash problems?

My husaband is 65 years old nad he told me that last night he experienced a sudden waive of dizziness, enough that he actually fell down. He has high blood pressure and on meds, but never diagnosed with anything else. He is currently working out of town and lives alone. I am very concerned. What could that be?

I feel kind of silly asking this, but my heart rate (resting) has been elevated all day -- ranging from 107 early am, up and down from 130 - 180 most of the day. I've been having episodes like this for several months, but not this bad or long lasting. I guess I'm just not sure what to do. Bp avgs 120/78 - 130/88.
