Could You Suggest Some Nutritious Food That Gives Strength For Lung Cancer Patient?
My father recently had been diagnosed with lung cancer.. I am concerned that he gets enough to eat. He requests soft foods but is there anything that he may like that will have protein? I hope that he has enough nutrition and strength for his well being? Lately he requests colder items..
You need to give him energy and protein dense foods. If he can digest milk, then you can give him thick fruit milkshakes. You can add 2-3 teaspoons of whole milk powder to milk, add sugar and a fruit like mango, banana, sapota etc and churn in a mixer to prepare milkshakes.
You can also soak some cashews and almonds in milk overnight (keep in a refrigerator to prevent spoilage of milk) and grind it into a fine paste. Make sure dry fruits are well-ground as coarsely ground dry fruits may cause irritation in the throat. Make a fine paste of dry fruits, sugar and cold milk to prepare dry fruit milkshakes. They will not only provide proteins but also energy from dry fruits due to their fat content.
For more proteins you can give cottage cheese or paneer, eggs and if non-vegetarian you can give home cooked mutton, chicken and fish. As such there is no food restrictions except that you must maintain good food hygiene since cancer patients have a weak immune system especially if they are undergoing chemotherapy.
