Could Vitamin D Deficiency Cause Acne?

Hi. I have moderate acne. Diet and having a dirty face does not affect my acne because when I had clear skin it would not affect me. I havent gotten proper amount of sunlight in more than a year. Could it be the cause of my acne is a Vitamin D deficiency?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

See, acne is caused by infection with propionobacterium acne, an organism which affects the sebaceous glands mainly in oily and unhygienic skin. Sunlight or vitD deficiency is not generally associated with the development of acne. Do the following-
Use acne bar soap.
Use clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel locally.
Use tab levocetrizine once daily.
Use these for 20 days and give me a feedback.

Hope this was helpful.
Regards
