Could Type 1 Diabetes Cause Infertility?

I ve had T1 diabetes since I was eleven months old, and I m now twenty. I m female and have never actually had sex yet, but I was wondering about how it could affect my kids. My aunt, my great aunt, and my great-great aunt all have T1 diabetes, so it runs in my family a lot. I have hypo thyroid, and take synthroid for it. I m curious as to what the general possibility of my children ending up with diabetes are? And could this lead me to be infertile? My mother wasn t supposed to have children, and had a dozen or so miscarriages before me, if that helps at all.

hi
It is difficult to predict the penitrance of diabetis to the progeny. however as you have type 1 diabetes, future complications like infertility might be possible but not inevitable. You need a healthy lifestyle and if you keep your diabetes well under control, you can have normal children. Treatments for infertility have taken great advances and hence you need not worry about your future. All the best
