Could Tinnitus And Bad Taste Experienced In The Mouth Be Related?

Severe tinnitus and the most horrible taste in my mouth. Mouth problems started first, treated for thrush with no improvement. Tinnitus started approx. 3 weeks ago. I am in tremendous distress. Any thoughts about possible causes? Can these 2 problems be related? Please?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tinnitus and bad taste experienced in the mouth which seems to be due to two different causes. One of the possible cause for this is eustachian tube dysfunction through respiratory tract infection and if you have no such symptoms then it is not causally related.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain complete oral hygiene and drink plenty of fluids and suck on sugar free candies to stimulate salivary flow. Visit ENT specialist once and get complete otoscopic examination done and start treatment accordingly. Take proper course of antibiotics for the same. Do not touch or prick ear with any sharp object.
