Could The Soreness And Difficulty In Speaking Be Due To The Herniated Discs In Neck?

I had 2 herniated discs in my neck removed two months ago and my voice has been affected. I have soreness on one side of my throat and often it is an effort to speak as though I have laryngitis. My surgeon is telling me this will go away in time, but I am concerned. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thank you.
