Could The Rise In BP Be Due To Epidural Steroid Injection?

Doctor, Two days ago I received an Epidural Steroid Injection, and last

evening I just happened to monitor my B/P, and was somewhat surprised. What normally used to read 138/67 was 185/90.

Could this have been caused by the shot I received. This morning

it is still 170/78 after taking my meds.

Thank You,

Gary E.

Hello,

An epidural steroid injection would only cause a transient rise, if at all in blood pressure for about twenty-four hours depending on which steroid is given. It is more likely that your blood pressure not adequately controlled. Keep monitoring regularly morning and evening to check for variability, and consult your physician if it is still high.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Imran Shaikh
