Hi,

Betnesol 0.5 mg tablet contains betamethasone which belongs to the group of medications known as corticosteroids or steroids is used to treat inflammation, severe allergies, flare ups of on going illnesses. It is also used to treat many other medical problems that require either reduction of inflammation or suppression of the immune system. Side effects of Betnesol are nausea, vomiting, rashes, itching, dry skin, indigestion, acnes, changes in skin colour, mood swings, depression, irregular periods, anxiety, delayed wound healing, hoarseness of voice, growth retardation, headache, sweating, dizziness, allergic reactions etc.

If these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor promptly for medical help. When consumed during pregnancy, Betnesol might show adverse effects to the fetus. So, the use of this medication in pregnant women should be avoided unless potential benefits outweigh the risks. Without your doctor's recommendation, it shouldn't be uesd during pregnancy. It can be used carefully after birth of baby during lactation if your doctor has advised to take that.

Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
