Could The Dental Work Have Caused The Hives/whelps?

My 6 yr old grandson this afternoon broke out in whelps all over his body all of a sudden after lunch He did have dental work on Friday, and nitrous oxide used to sedate him as well as carbocaine to numb the area for 2 crowns. We also had shrimp last night at a Japanese restaurant. Could the dental work have caused the hives/whelps? YYYY@YYYY

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi....I just read through your query. Rather than the drugs which have been administered I feel that the seafood might have been the reason for this sudden development of allergy. I suggest you see an Allergy specialist or meanwhile keep him away from food or shrimps. Sometimes food allergy can be very severe also. If this happens again I suggest you Rush him to the nearest Emergency Room.
