Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could The Black Bruise On The Knee Is Some Kind Of Insect Bite?
I developed a small bruise on my knee about a week ago and since then it has changed. It had started off looking like a regular bruise, just your average black and blue mark. Since then it has formed a small white/nude colored center followed by a purple colored bruise around it and a tan colored area around that. It isn't really painful but it is tender when pressure is applied. At first I thought it was just a bruise, now I am worried it may be a bite of some sort. Is there any way you can help me?
If there is not much swelling or pain then it's unlikely to be any worrisome insect bite. However even scratching a mosquito bite with finger nails can cause infection and black bruise. Are you sure there was no injury that you might have got?
I suggest you apply neosporin ointment to the area to make it heal faster.
