Could The Diuretic Medications Cause Low Potassium?

I just had bloodwork done and have low potassium- 2.9 and have been put on potassium medication. I have had my high blood pressure medicine changed to add a diuretic. Could the diuretic be the cause of the low potassium? Also, I have high uric acid- 7.7- could this also be caused by the diuretic?

Urologist 's  Response
Yes. some diuretics like furosemide cause potassium wasting making the levels low. Others like thiazide can make them high.

If your K is low, then I recommend taking supplements.
